The Road Less Travelled man -  Scott Peck MD,  worked in the field of applied psychology explored the definitions of love and evil.   Peck maintains that love is a combination of the concern for the spiritual growth of another,  and simple narcissism.  In combination,  love is an activity,  not simply a feeling. Scott Peck and his perspective on love (in one of my favourite books::  The Road Less Travelled)   is that::   "..... love is not a feeling,  it is an activity and an investment. Love is primarily a concern for the spiritual growth of another. Love cannot be sustained by mutual dependence, rather, love between two parties  is made stronger when they are completely independent of one another." BHP

I feel that sometimes my work is so unachievable.  So I set low targets because I have such high expectations.  I yearn for the development of humans;  ~me  ~others.  It is not something I do to people.  I feel my job is a facilitator which stimulated  a climate of trust and sharing.  Get the right tone and stretch activity or question -  and humans pour out their souls.  The core.  The heart.  The journey of the visible human and the interior human.  That very act of humans sharing something from inside,  which has never before been tapped,  is a massive revelation to others present -  and,  more-so,  the mining-for-soul individual person themselves.   Only when we share with another  will the reality of our life become real.  Concrete.  Make sense.  The glory of God is a person fully alive.  ...

The Department of Health rejected medical advice about providing NHS staff with certain protective equipment during an influenza pandemic because stockpiling it would be too expensive, the Guardian can reveal.  Documents show officials working under the former health secretary Jeremy Hunt told medical advisers three years ago to "reconsider" a formal recommendation that eye protection should be provided to all healthcare professionals who have close contact with pandemic influenza patients.  The expert advice was watered down after an "economic assessment" found a recommendation about providing visors or safety glasses to all hospital, ambulance and social care staff who have close contact with pandemic influenza patients would "substantially increase" the costs of stockpiling.  The documents may help explain a shortage of protective gear in the NHS that is hampering efforts to manage the Covid-19 virus pandemic.

55 years of living / working with young people in hostels  I learned many things.  1 Never lend a £1 when asked -  but  ONLY give   because that young person will spend the rest of her/his life avoiding me which shatters any hard fought relationship.  Entering a helping relationship can be painstakingly slow without any £1 setback.
